But Brisbane 2032 organisers say time is on their side to iron out any issues, insisting it will be able to deliver the bold infrastructure blueprint.
A new 63,000-seat stadium at inner Brisbane's Victoria Park is the centrepiece of the Olympic plan that was revealed by the Queensland government after a 100-day review and plenty of false starts.
Many applauded the plan, but gymnastics and canoeing have joined the likes of athletics to take issue with proposed infrastructure.
The previous Labor government had promised a $257 million upgrade of the Chandler Sports Precinct in Brisbane's south that was set to showcase gymnastics in 2032.
However Gymnastics Queensland CEO Chris Rushton on Wednesday said the sport was in limbo after being "snubbed" in the Liberal National government's latest plan.
"We were told Chandler would be a game-changer but now ... unfortunately everything is up in the air," he said.
"Hopefully we can get the premier to the table so he can listen to our concerns."
The venue plan was a mixed bag for Paddle Australia which was ecstatic over a new whitewater facility at Redlands near Brisbane that will host canoe slalom.
It will be only the second world-class whitewater facility built in Australia after Penrith Whitewater Stadium was constructed for Sydney 2000.
However they weren't so happy about sprint canoeing and Para Canoe being held on Rockhampton's Fitzroy River in crocodile country.
The central Queensland river's current was the biggest concern, with the world canoe body already confirming it did not meet standards to stage international events.
"It has come as a surprise ... that Rockhampton has been chosen," the International Canoe Federation said.
The Gold Coast hinterland's Hinze Dam had been a preferred site.
Brisbane 2032 boss Andrew Liveris on Wednesday said they would work with each sport to ensure the venue plan was delivered.
Rowing Australia had already questioned Fitzroy River after the sport was also allocated the Rockhampton site for 2032.
"There was no perfect venue in Queensland, and that remains the case but Rockhampton will be thoroughly evaluated and they are on board with that," Mr Liveris said.
"That is not atypical out of all these venues, to have one or two say 'hey, I need more work on this' - fine, and that's what our job is."
The Queensland government on Wednesday said a priority development area would be placed on the site opposite the Gabba which was set to feature an 18,000-seat Brisbane Arena for 2032.
However, the government's delivery plan may hit a hurdle, with protesters considering legal action that may halt the proposed Victoria Park stadium's development.
The protesters said the venue would destroy valuable green space at a site of significance to First Nations communities.
They are also not happy Queensland Premier David Crisafulli broke an election promise after initially insisting no new stadiums would be built for 2032.
"We're madly fundraising now, so we're serious about it (legal action)," Save Victoria Park's Sue Bremner told AAP.
