Swimming Australia is among the nation's peak sporting bodies sweating on the Games blueprint to be unveiled on Tuesday, ending years of speculation.
"It's pretty critical to be honest," its CEO Rob Woodhouse told AAP.
"For us it is probably the most important decision this century for our sport, definitely since the lead-in to the Sydney Olympics."
The Queensland government will unveil 2032 infrastructure following a 100-day review and a number of false starts since Brisbane was named host in July 2021.
An anxious wait may end in disappointment for some sports, with reports rowing will be allocated to central Queensland's Fitzroy River in crocodile country, raising concerns it won't meet international standards.
A planned commonwealth-backed, $2.5 billion Brisbane Arena may be scrapped, along with a major indoor sports centre initially slated to host basketball.
But Swimming Australia's wishes may be granted despite Queensland Premier David Crisafulli initially claiming new stadiums would not be built for Brisbane 2032.
A new aquatic centre will reportedly feature in the venue plan, positioned near the Games centrepiece - a 60,000-seat main stadium to be constructed at inner Brisbane's Victoria Park.
"Swimming is regarded as Australia's No.1 Olympic and Paralympic sport. You want to have a legacy out of the Games," Mr Woodhouse said.
Swimming Australia made its pitch after an initial plan to hold its sport's 2032 program in a drop-in pool.
"We have consulted experts, looked at all the options. It is not us jumping up and down saying we need a new pool for the sake of it," Mr Woodhouse said.
"Having the 2032 Games in a drop pool would effectively leave no legacy at all for any aquatic sports."
He was hopeful the existing Centenary Pool would be upgraded and complemented by new main and secondary stadiums featuring two large indoor pools that would be the national base for aquatic sports swimming, artistic swimming, water polo and diving.
Brisbane's ageing Chandler pool was not an option.
"Chandler was made for the 1982 Commonwealth Games. I competed at those Games," said Mr Woodhouse, a former medley swimmer.
"It's a great pool but it has served its purpose. It would need a virtual rebuild to come up with a facility fit for purpose."
Football Australia is also optimistic after calling for a permanent 30,000-seat stadium, preferably at Brisbane's Perry Park, while Hockey Australia identified the Gold Coast as its optimal Games location.
The Queensland Tennis Centre is reportedly set to receive a $113 million upgrade to ensure the sport is not relocated to Melbourne in 2032.
Equestrian may also be moved to Toowoomba and sailing held in north Queensland.
Four-time Olympian and basketball great Shane Heal said he still savoured his Sydney 2000 experience and urged Brisbane organisers to get the venue plan right.
"It is a chance for a place like Brisbane to get up to speed, and there has to be benefits for the residents for years to come," he told AAP.
"One of those things should be a state-of-the-art venue that everyone gets to use, not just for sport but also concerts and events like that.
"It's a such a big event you want to put your best foot forward. Now Brisbane has that chance."
Queensland Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie on Monday said the 2032 delivery plan would be the "envy of any Olympics held or in the future".
