Man shot dead in 'targeted' attack at Melbourne cafe

Officers say the shooting appears to have been targeted.

Emergency services were called to a cafe on the Old Calder Highway just before 10:30am on Saturday after a number of shots were fired.

They found a man suffering multiple injuries.

Paramedics worked to save him but he died at the scene, while another man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Victorian police chief Shane Patton told reporters two offenders were seen running from the Keilor scene and jumping into a nearby car.

Police have cordoned off the area.

They've urged anyone who witnessed the incident or with dashcam vision to contact Crime Stoppers.
