Man charged over Sydney gangland murder

Two men aged 37 and 49 have already been charged for their alleged involvement as accessories to the murder and are before the courts.

A 26-year-old man, arrested in Campsie about 12.40pm on Wednesday, has been charged with murder and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Police also seized a number of items during a search of a nearby home that will be forensically examined.

The man has been refused bail to face Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.

Ahmad was gunned down six months after being released from prison, having served five years for the manslaughter of gangland rival Safwan Charbaji.

He had been warned underworld enemies placed a $1 million bounty on his head.

His brother and crime kingpin Walid "Wally" Ahmad also died in a hail of bullets while sitting at an outdoor cafe at Bankstown in 2016.
