The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service says the blaze is being controlled.
"Effective strategies are in operation or planned for the entire perimeter," it said in revising the status of the fire to a watch and act.
The blaze is burning in the area around Kirkland, Tiger Brennan and Wishart roads, southeast of the Darwin CBD.
The fire service said conditions in the area were changing and a heightened level of threat remained.
The blaze was burning within a few kilometres of a warehouse fire at Berrimah which broke out on Sunday, destroying crucial medical supplies for local hospitals.
That fire has caused an estimated $30 million damage and left hospitals in Darwin, Katherine and Palmerston with about three days' worth of some items, including theatre consumables, disposable sheets and gloves.
NT Health called a code brown over the weekend to spark a system-wide response, which also included assessments of what supplies were available at other sites and what might need to be sourced from interstate.
But officials said there would be no impact on services or patient care.
