Police are investigating criminal damage to a statue in St Kilda's Jack Boulevard reported about 3.30am on Thursday, 25 January.
Several people were seen loitering in the area around the time of the incident, police say.
Photos posted on social media show the body of the statue fallen on the grass below with "The colony will fall" written in red spray paint on the stone underneath where the statue usually stands.
The same statue was doused with red paint by protesters in January 2022 as an 'invasion day' statement.
