It was a dominant display for the minor premier against an Eagles side that finished second on the ladder, with GVL Data showing the Murray Bombers were rewarded for their hard work at the contest.
The Bottle Greens had 23 contested possessions more than Mansfield, showing they weren’t afraid to go in and get the hard ball.
Jack McHale led the way with 18 contested posessions, the most of any player on the day, with three of his teammates — Daniel Willis, Angus Byrne and Aiden Mills — also hitting double-digits in the category.
Echuca’s ground-ball gets provide further evidence of the side’s committed efforts at winning the ball.
The Murray Bombers had 109 ground-ball gets, 17 more than their Mansfield opponents.
But possibly the most telling statistic that shows Echuca’s hard-working nature on the weekend was the one percenters.
Echuca had 40 one percenters at Kings Park in Seymour on Saturday, 17 more than Mansfield — the second-highest differential Echuca has had in that stat category all season.
The hard work clearly paid off. Mansfield was held to just 36 points, its second-lowest score of the season, and the Eagles were kept off the scoreboard entirely in the first quarter.
McHale also led Echuca in ground-ball gets with 18, while Mills and Ben Reid had five one percenters each, tied for the most on the day.
