As the school community is made up of different walks of life, socio-economic demographics and ethnic and cultural backgrounds, including 20 per cent of its population being from Koorie cultures, the school prides itself on its strong commitment to providing a supportive community environment.
Acting principal Karen Goodwin said the agenda for Education Week would work to promote stronger connections and harmony for its students, teachers and families.
“At Mooroopna Primary School, we will be celebrating Education Week with Indigenous games and activities,” Ms Goodwin said.
“It will start at 12.30pm and finish at about 3.20pm on the Friday of Education Week (May 19) ... the students and teachers are very excited to partake and engage in the celebration.
“We’ll also be having a picnic lunch on the day, and parents and family members will be invited to come and join us.”
The school’s student learning motto, ‘Motivated, Persistent and Successful’, entwines with the Education Week theme of motivation and is reflected throughout the school’s curriculum.
“The priorities at Mooroopna Primary School are on student learning, specifically in the areas of social skills, literacy, numeracy and the arts,” Ms Goodwin said.
“Our school will continue to be committed to the integrated program in all areas of our teaching, using co-operative planning and support, and spanning the entire seven-year course for each of our students.”
