Tongala Eats and Beats is an alcohol-free event for the whole family.
The music concert with a market, food vans and kids’ activities will be headlined by Grim Fawkner, with support from Jessica Lorraine and special guest Toby Brooks.
“There are lots of kids’ activities, face painting, all the old school games, bubbles and things like that, to keep the kids involved where the music is,” Tongala Development Group secretary Amber Townsend said.
“There is a designated seating area, and we encourage people to bring their picnic blankets and kick back on the grass at the Tongala Soundshell and shire lawns,” Amber said.
“Set up for the afternoon for some nice relaxing vibes and support the market.”
For those after a bite to eat to go with the beats, a range of food trucks will be on-site, including Harry-Os, the Port Ice Creamery, smoothie truck, and so much more.
Angela expressed thanks to the major sponsor of Tongala Eats and Beats, the Community Bank Tongala, and other businesses that support the event.
Tongala Community Garage Sale
The weekend before Tongala Eats and Beats is the Tongala Community Garage Sale.
More than 50 houses in the town participated in 2023, and Angela thinks even more homes will participate this year.
“People pay their registration to be included in the map, but then all the money that they make in their sales remains with the sellers,” Angela said.
“This is a way of supporting and giving families an opportunity to generate extra revenue, and it ties in with our vision of sustainability.
“You can tell who is registered as they have their numbers up on their gates, and balloons and things.
“There is normally a general start time for everyone, and it is just a great day for the town.
“We have a lot of people walking around, being really sociable.
“We encourage people to visit the street art, the murals and the monuments on the main street as well.
Tongala Community Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, October 5 — pick up a map from the Kiosk in Mangon St, Tongala.
Tongala Eats and Beats, Tongala Soundshell will be held on Sunday, October 13 from 11am to 3pm.
