The band, renowned for their faithful renditions of chart-topping hits, promises a night of nostalgia and sing-alongs.
Lead guitarist Rob Taylor shared insights into the band’s formation and repertoire.
“Glenn and I were always looking for a tribute band idea to put forward,” Rob said.
“And we both liked Crowded House, and it seemed like they had a lot of hits, a lot of radio hits and it seemed like no-one else was doing it.”
The band’s two-set tribute includes hits from both Crowded House and Split Enz, as well as covers from affiliated groups.
“We do Throw Your Arms Around Me which Crowded House play all the time,” Rob said.
“And as it turns out, Crowded House’s bass player, his name is Nick Seymour, who is the brother of Mark Seymour, who fronts Hunters and Collectors.”
Rob highlighted the universal appeal of Crowded House's music.
“Crowded House, they do something for everyone,” he said.
“They do rock and they do a lot of slow stuff, a lot of musicality.
“Those guys grew up in a very musical family, so I think the song writing is probably second only to the Beatles.”
Rob’s guilty pleasure song to perform is Crowded House’s Fall At Your Feet.
“There is just something that grabs me, but I think the fans, the people who come along to the show, really enjoy Message To My Girl by Split Enz,” he said.
The band, led by Glenn Starr on vocals, performs in the distinctive attire of Split Enz, adding a visual element to their show.
Fans can expect to hear classics such as Message To My Girl, Weather With You, I See Red, Don’t Dream It’s Over and History Never Repeats.
