With year-round STEM specialist classes running for all students, this year’s Education Week theme allows the school to shine a spotlight on its approach to STEM education.
“Education Week is a vibrant time for our school, especially with this year’s focus on STEM,” Bourchier Street Primary School principal Gary D’Arma said.
“We are committed to integrating technology and practical science in our curriculum, and we want to prepare our students to thrive in a technology-driven world.”
This year, the school’s program includes interactive STEM workshops, challenging engineering tasks, and real-world science experiments.
“By immersing students in authentic problems and providing access to the latest in educational technology, we aim not just to educate but to inspire a lifelong passion for the sciences,” he said.
“We believe in teaching our students how to engage with technology responsibly and creatively.
“It’s crucial that our students not only know how to use technology but also understand the ethics and responsibilities that come with it.”
Throughout the week, students will tackle projects that require critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving, skills essential for their future careers and daily lives.
“Our goal is for our students to see technology as a tool that can create solutions and bring about positive change,” Mr D’Arma said.
“Education Week at Bourchier Street Primary is not just about sharing what the school does; it’s about preparing the next generation of innovators and thinkers.
“We want our students to leave school excited about applying what they learn at school in the real world.”
With open classrooms and community events, the school will invite families and community members to celebrate the dynamic world of STEM education.
