“As a vocalist, there’s no greater challenge,” Rick said.
“Farnham’s an absolute marvel in his vocal control, and the fact he’s self-taught is mind-blowing.”
Rick marvelled at Farnham’s genre-defying abilities, from smooth swing to hard-hitting rock.
“Listen to his swing numbers, and you’d swear it was Sinatra or Harry Connick Jr. Then he'll belt out a rock anthem like Playing to Win without missing a beat,” Rick said.
The frontman stressed the significance of lyrics and melody in Farnham’s repertoire.
“As vocalists, we’re drawn to both,” Rick said.
He singled out Help as his top pick.
“The Beatles’ version was great, but Farnham’s take is on another level,” he said.
Rick’s excitement was palpable as he discussed the upcoming show, slated for May 10 at 9pm.
“We’re absolutely stoked to hit Moama and pay tribute to these iconic tunes,” he said.
John Farnham’s career spans over five decades, with his 1986 album Whispering Jack becoming the highest-selling Australian album of all time.
His anthem, You’re the Voice, has become an unofficial national song, and he’s bagged 19 ARIA awards.
Farnham’s influence on Australian music is immeasurable, inspiring generations of artists and earning him the title ‘The Voice’ of Australian music.
