AUSTRALIA DAY IS ABOUT REFLECTING ON WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AUSTRALIAN AND AROUND ECHUCA MOAMA, WE DO THIS IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS.

Here are a few of What’s On’s favourites, but not all events, on around the place.

BARHAM KOONDROOK LILO RACE

Bring along your life jacket, tubes, inflatables and lilos to Barham Koondrook Australia Day Lilo race, leaving from the Koondrook boat ramp at 9.30am before floating down the Murray River to the Barham Boat Ramp.

ECHUCA

Flag raising and Australia Day Awards presentation at Hopwood Garden from 7.30am with free breakfast, citizen awards, Echuca Aero Club flyover and free activities for the whole family.

GIRGARRE

A flag-raising ceremony, presentation of Australia Day Awards, music and BBQ breakfast will be held at Girgarre Memorial Hall from 8.30am to 10.30am.

KOYUGA YABBIE RACES

Koyuga annual yabbie races, a free family fun evening for Australia Day with barbecue, yabby races and a monster raffle from 5pm at the Koyuga Hall.

KYABRAM

Australia Day breakfast and celebrations at the John Pilley Reserve, Kyabram Fauna Park on Lake Rd, from 8am to 10am.

KYVALLEY

Kyvalley Swimming Club Inc is holding an Aussie BBQ and salad lunch at the Kyvalley Park and Pool. Starting at noon, the official ceremony is at 1.15pm. If there is inclement weather, the day will move to Kyvalley Hall. For more information, phone 0417 360 687.

LOCKINGTON

The Action Club of Lockington runs a very informal fishing competition. To participate, turn up at the Lockington Channel with your rod and bait on Singer Rd at 10.30am. There are prizes for all the kids that take part.

MURRAY RIVER COUNCIL BREAKFAST

The Murray River Council Australia Day breakfasts will be held in Barham, Moulamein, Mathoura, Wakool, Tooleybuc and Koraleigh.

ROCHESTER

Rochester Lions Club BBQ breakfast from 7am at Lions Park, Corner of Echuca Rd and Elizabeth St, Rochester.

Flag raising ceremony, presentation of Australia Day Awards and guest speaker from 8.30am.

RUSHWORTH

A welcome for new residents to Rushworth and the surrounding district, from noon with live entertainment, sausage sizzle and presentation of Australia Day Awards in the Village Green on High St, Rushworth.

TONGALA

Community Pool party with music, games and refreshments from 10am to 4pm at the Tongala Swimming Pool, 621 Henderson Rd, Tongala.

WYUNA

Community BBQ and flag raising ceremony at the Wyuna Memorial Hall at 20 Alfred Ave, Wyuna, from 6.30pm.
