The ACCA has a long celebrated history of investing in, nurturing and propelling the careers of contemporary artists.
It is located in Melbourne’s arts precinct in Southbank, but is now extending its reach to regional students with a newly launched program.
The gallery’s education program offers innovative, free and engaging arts learning opportunities for students, educators, and the wider education community.
Sessions are versatile, running through in-gallery programs, in-school or via a virtual classroom.
The REACH Art – Inspiring Creative Careers program, supported by the Victorian Government, will connect regional and remote students and teachers with the centre and its resources.
REACH is available to all regional and remote Victorian students and is designed to be flexible, with transport subsidies available for schools to visit the Melbourne site.
The aim is to build interest, knowledge, participation and career aspirations in the visual arts, with the long-term goal of supporting the development of future creative industries workers.
ACCA education manager Felicia Pinchen-Hogg said REACH has been many years in the making.
“The idea grew out of a deep desire to build creative career aspiration and remove barriers to engagement with the visual arts for regional students,” she said.
“We are so excited to share stories of inspiring creative career trajectories and work with students to build the real-world skills they need to secure a job in a creative industry, through participation in hands-on collaborative creative projects.”
