Construction company Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd was announced on Tuesday as the chosen builder, with early works set to begin at the Hawdon St site.
Education Minister James Merlino announced the appointment and acknowledged Hansen Yuncken's significant local presence, with the company having had a base in Shepparton for the past 95 years.
Demolition works at the site of the former Shepparton High School will get under way next month, with the project expected to provide construction jobs for local contractors.
“This exciting appointment means Greater Shepparton families are a step close to getting the great local secondary school facilities their kids needs to thrive,” Mr Merlino said.
“We know that Victoria's population is booming, which is why we're building 100 new schools and upgrading schools to meet the needs of our growing communities.”
The design, by architecture and design practice Gray Puksand, supports the school's focus on having the facilities of a big school while maintaining the feel of a smaller school environment.
Mr Merlino said the architects worked alongside students, teachers and the local community to gain their input for the design of the site.
The announcement comes following a $21.5 million government investment to support the Shepparton Education Plan.
“The new school has been designed from the ground up to best suit the needs of every future Shepparton student,” Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
