This year’s Shepparton Festival is opening with a delightful, family-friendly event. Bring a picnic blanket and get comfy as the Shepparton Botanic Gardens comes alive with art and live music. Enjoy the Shepparton Brass and Wind group and the Shepparton Festival Choir, along with a unique art installation, Reflection Room. The Nanna Marce food truck will be at the free event, which runs from 5.30pm to 7.45pm.
CFA Junior Urban State championships
Junior Urban State championships will be held across the weekend with urban CFA teams from across Victoria competing at Mooroopna Recreational Reserve. Entry is by gold coin donation. The event runs from 8.30am to 4pm and will see the next generation of firefighters compete for the trophy.
Milo Rose exhibition
One of the region’s littlest artists is hosting an exhibition as part of the Shepparton Festival. Working with large-scale paintings, printworks and sculpture, six-year-old Milo Rose’s exhibition is being hosted at Shepparton City Central Target Arcade shop 2, 231 Maude St Mall. The emerging artist will be present at the exhibition on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 2pm.

CFA District 22 championship and CFA state championship
In its 50th year, the CFA District 22 championship committee will host the CFA District 22 championship at Mooroopna Recreational Reserve. The day will see CFA brigades in north-east Victoria from Strathmerton to Wodonga competing on the day in six events, each carrying out common truck/hose field operations. The event is on from 8.30am to 4pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
Shepparton Albanian Harvest Festival
The annual festival showcases the Albanian culture unlike any other event, with traditional Albanian music, folk dancing, home-made Albanian food, barbecue and cold drinks available to buy, this is one not to miss. At the Queens Gardens, Shepparton, from 11am to 5pm, entry is by gold coin donation.

Country music for charity
On Thursday, March 24, at the Cricketers Arms Hotel, Mooroopna, well-known guest artist Brendan Scott will perform. The concert goes from 1pm to 4pm, with doors opening at 11.30am and meals available from noon. Proceeds go to tackle homelessness.
Craft exhibition
The Eastern Goulburn Valley CWA of Victoria is holding a creative arts exhibition on Friday, March 25, from 2.30pm to 5pm and on Saturday, March 26, from 10am to 4pm at the Shepparton East Football clubrooms, Central Park Reserve, Central Ave, Shepparton East. Admission is $5, with Devonshire tea and light refreshments available. The day will have craft demonstrations, craft sales and a trading table. Inquiries to Cathy on 0400 037 026.
Over-60s Friendship Group
A friendly social group meets every second Tuesday of each month at 6pm at Casablanca Restaurant, 125 High St, Shepparton, for a meal and to discuss the coming months’ itinerary for day and evening outings.
