The store specialises in repurposed and upcycled items, with local makers and artists thrown in. The store has been around since 2020, with humble beginnings in Mooroopna.
“I started Tinkers Twist from scratch in 2020 and then moved to Tat, where it’s been ever since,” owner Sharryn Smith said.
Tinkers’ three years of business will end on April 21, so Ms Smith invites the public to embrace the sales.
Ms Smith is locking the doors of her business to indulge in some self-care.
“I’m closing to free up some time for myself. It’s very time-consuming for just one person, and I’m finding it all too difficult now,” she said.
Despite the difficulties she experienced, Ms Smith thanked the community for their support during her time at Hogan St.
“The community has supported Tinkers in many different ways. From simply buying a unique gift to donating books for the exchange. Sometimes offering me encouragement during COVID shutdowns and decline in retail sales,” she said.
“I've met so many amazing people doing what I do.
“I’ve been privileged to be part of the lives of all these talented artists and creators, and I'm disappointed they have lost their venue here in Tatura — hopefully they get it back.”
The final bills have been paid and her sales have begun, but Ms Smith is not convinced this is the end for Tinkers Twist.
“I’m still hoping someone will step in and take over so the shop does not have to actually close because it’s a little sad for me to take it all away from people who love the eclectic range Tinkers offers, and from the artists themselves,” she said.
“I’m proud to have this business up to what it is today and I’m glad people have liked and supported it, but it’s now time to take another road.
“Tinkers will continue in another form without an actual shop; I don't know how that will look yet, so we’ll see.”
