The weather was perfect on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday for hordes of families to enjoy scavenger hunts, miniature train rides and cuddles with the Easter bunny himself.
While Monday saw cooler, rainy weather, some families still enjoyed the activities on offer.
KidsTown co-ordinator Emily Lange said Saturday was the busiest day and, while official numbers would not be known until after the school holidays, she estimated about 1000 people turned out to take part in the activities for the day.
In fact, it was the busiest day she had seen at KidsTown since starting in her role in 2019.
Good Friday was also busier than expected, while Sunday’s numbers were similar to those last year, Miss Lange said.
Monday was quieter due to the wet weather, but Miss Lange said it was still good to see some families brave the conditions.
“We’ve just had so much great feedback,” Miss Lange said of the whole weekend.
“It’s great to see everyone out – that they’re getting out in the playground and getting active.”
This year’s four scavenger hunt activities, organised by Start Outdoors outdoor educator Kim Bristow, sent youngsters to different arts of the playground to find special Easter clues.
The Easter bunny’s visits on Friday, Saturday and Sunday were also immensely popular, as were rides on the miniature train.
