It’s pretty rare for someone to buy a brand-new vehicle and set straight to work cutting it up.

But this 2015 FM 550 Mustang’s owner didn’t hesitate.
New to the showroom floor at MOVE, the iconic vehicle is known as MAD GT.
“It was already an off-the-shelf crazy Ford as it stood as a new car,” MOVE’s Andrew Church said.
“For an owner to cut up a brand-new car and wide-body it; it’s pretty unique.”
Mr Church said the museum had been keen to display the car for some time, so he was thrilled when it arrived last week.
He said the owner had bought the Mustang with “very low kilometres” from the dealer’s showroom floor, but only drove it briefly as a standard car before sending it to Shepparton’s Southern Rod and Custom for a full custom upgrade.
Even in a showroom full of head-turners, this one catches the eye.

Perhaps the alteration most obvious to the naked eye is the width of the vehicle.
A Clinched wide body kit was imported and fitted, making the vehicle look chunky and imposing.
The lower mouldings sit so close to the floor you’d be hard-pressed to slide your foot beneath them.
The Ford was fitted with some impressive new shoes.

It’s been fitted with a full set of fancy new shoes; wider tyres on Simmons 20”x10” and 20”x13” wheels at the front and rear.

Mr Church said the existing supercharger was replaced with “the biggest full Harrop supercharger kit”, putting out more than 800HP.
To handle that power, custom brakes and full coilover adjustable suspension have been installed.

Of course, it might be considered inconsistent to leave the other details untouched with so much effort put into the body and mechanics, so the owner has spared no attention to those either.
The seats have been restitched to include the Mustang’s personalised name.

The car boasts custom detailing, with personalised ‘MAD GT’ wording badged on the lower side skirts and stitched into the upholstery in contrasting red thread.

And like a subtle little autograph, an oval Southern Rod and Custom badge sits unimposing in front of the front doors on either side.
The tough-looking, shiny black ride cuts a dominant figure in a museum full of head-turning masterpieces.
“If they had a today version of Mad Max, this car would be the one to have because it’s just a beast,” Mr Church said.
