Headspace Shepparton is recruiting for its 2025 Youth Advisory Committee, offering young people the opportunity to help shape mental health services — locally and even nationally.
What’s headspace?
Headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. With more than 100 centres nationwide, headspace focuses on early intervention to support the mental health and wellbeing of people aged 12 to 25.
Beyond individual support, headspace also plays a vital role in promoting mental health at a community level. This is where the Youth Advisory Committee comes in — giving you a platform to drive change and make a meaningful impact.
What is the Youth Advisory Committee?
It’s a group of young people from diverse backgrounds working together to improve youth mental health and wellbeing. By joining, you'll have a direct role in influencing services and policies while developing valuable skills and meeting like-minded people.
What’s involved?
Committee members:
• Have a say in the mental health services offered by headspace Shepparton and beyond.
• Gain experience in leadership, media, communication and advocacy.
• Help lead youth-led projects in the local community.
• Contribute to shaping youth mental health policy.
• Connect with like-minded peers in a supportive environment.
Worried about time commitment?
Meetings are just once a month for about two hours — and yes, dinner is included!
Who should apply?
Headspace encourages all young people to apply, particularly those from the following backgrounds:
• Lived experience of mental illness and/or have accessed headspace services in the past.
• Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community member.
• Are from a multicultural or refugee background.
• Identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
• Are living with a disability.
• Have or having an experience of homelessness.
Interested? Submit the registration form by March 10 to be considered.
