The side, which will be coached Giancarlo Leung, will travel to Canberra for the School Sport Australia Touch Football Championships — from October 27 to November 1.
The Year 5 student took up the sport two years ago and plays with her family in the Moama-Echuca Touch Association.
It is the second time the youngster has been picked to represent her state, having made the team last year, which competed in Tasmania.
Zahlia, sporting her bright pink boots, had to go through a three-stage trial process to make the side.
She admitted she was a little nervous at the final stage, but was delighted when her parents told her the good news.
‘‘It was really exciting,’’ she said.
‘‘Dad was looking at 6pm every night and then he showed mum when I made the team and they started laughing.’’
Zahlia loves the social aspect of playing touch football and said getting to play against adults had helped improve her game.
‘‘I like how fast the game is and that you get to make new friends,’’ she said.
‘‘Playing with adults is really fun and it helps you improve (as a player).’’
