The day will include a sausage sizzle, guided tours, donkey stalls and yards where visitors can pat the donkeys and meet the newest additions to the shelter.
“We don’t often get babies at the sanctuary,” Jess Smeaton, one of the sanctuary team members, said.
“Only really if a jenny comes in pregnant, because we don’t breed them.”
The newest addition, Almond, is only two weeks old, but already very friendly and curious.

The shelter has been running for more than 20 years, after being started by May Dodd in 1997.
Since then, the shelter has grown and moved farms, before landing on the current property with about 150 donkeys of various ages in paddocks.
The shelter runs this open day as an annual fundraiser for its not-for-profit work, allowing it to care for donkeys who need support.
The shelter team accepts donkeys from all over Australia, and has even had some come over on the Spirit of Tasmania ship.
“We’ve flown to places just to help put the donkeys on to transport,” Ms Smeaton said.
“Sometimes they just need their back legs lifted to help them along.”
The open day at the Tongala Donkey Sanctuary will run from 11am until 3pm on Sunday December 5, with a fee of $20 entry per car.
