The 32-year-old will play his 250th game in Saturday's grand final against Sydney, his second tilt at the AFL's biggest prize.
If the Cats are successful, Tuohy will join former Swan Tadhg Kennelly (2005) as Irishmen to win the flag.
"It'd mean everything," he told reporters on Friday.
"I'm really proud of the club that I play for, (it) keeps giving me an opportunity to win it and if it's not to be, it's not to be.
"But this is why we play and to be back on the big stage again is something I'm not taking for granted, but I still appreciate there's a tonne of work left to do."
As Tuohy spoke in front of the Yarra River, a fan was holding up an Irish flag behind him - perhaps an omen of the support awaiting he and countryman Mark O'Connor, the likely substitute.
Tuohy will have family and friends watching on from both the MCG and his hometown of Portlaoise.
"My parents didn't get out. My sister and my brother-in-law booked flights last minute and got in this morning, which was a good effort," Tuohy said.
"The support back home's pretty immense at the minute.
"The coverage around the game has grown significantly over the past couple of years.
"So lots of early morning coffees."
Young winger Max Holmes is under an injury cloud heading into the decider.
Tuohy has moved between defence, the wing and half-forward this season and wasn't fazed where he would end up on Saturday, or if Holmes' availability would change that.
"I tend to not find out where I'm playing until 10 minutes into the game, much less two days out," he said.
"It probably won't change my role a whole lot.
"I've been moved around a fair bit this year and I'm pretty vocal with the fact that I really enjoy that.
"I'll probably play tomorrow how I've played all year, which is a bit of everywhere."
