Andrew was in the thick of the action in the dying stages of a controversial one-point win over Adelaide on Saturday, repeatedly taunting opponent Riley Thilthorpe.
The Suns defender angered Thilthorpe after he had given away a late free kick, wagging a finger in his face, and then had words with the Crows' five-goal forward after he had spoiled his next marking attempt.
Andrew also pulled a "thumbs-up'' in Thilthorpe's face after the final siren, and the pair were involved in a heated exchange, with players from both sides rushing in to help their teammates when a wrestle broke out.
On Monday, Flanders said he "didn't mind it" and backed Andrew's aggressive approach.
"We don't want to be robots," Flanders told reporters.
"Everyone has personality and Mac wears his heart on his sleeve.
"For him to go out and do that, he backs it up with his performance.
"He brings such a unique display of skills into our back unit, so if he does a little bit of that we don't mind it.
"I think it's great for the game."
Adelaide's Darcy Fogarty suggested Thilthorpe might keep the Andrew stoush in his memory bank for the next time they meet, while Crows recruit Alex Neal-Bullen said he was proud of how the tall forward handled himself.
Suns coach Damien Hardwick has this year urged his players to play with a similar edge to that displayed by the NBA's Detroit Pistons in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The Pistons earned their "Bad Boys'' reputation while claiming back-to-back championships in 1989-90, their rough-and-ready approach juxtaposed with the glitz of Magic Johnson's Los Angeles Lakers and Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.
"Grit is one of our key words we want to live by, and Mac is showing grit in different ways to others," Flanders said.
"To go along with the 'Bad Boys', that's what they used to do back in the day, so we're trying to bring as much of that to life as possible."
Flanders also brushed off questions about the controversial umpiring decision not to pay Adelaide's Izak Rankine a mark with less than two minutes left on the clock on Saturday.
The AFL later admitted the umpires got the call wrong, and that Rankine should have been given a shot on goal that could have won the game.
"The umpires have a very tough job and they're always going to make mistakes," Flanders said.
"They're human as well. They do the best they can and we come away with the result.
"I'm sure there will be times in the year where we might be on the other end of it, but that's just life and that's just footy."
Gold Coast can extend their winning start to the season to a club-record four matches when they take on North Melbourne at Barossa Park on Saturday as part of Gather Round.Â
