Magpie Sidebottom suffers knee injury in 300th game

Collingwood were celebrating Sidebottom's milestone and Mason Cox's 100th game but the occasion was soured after less than 10 minutes when the wingman tackled Zurhaar then started feeling for his right knee, clearly in discomfort.

He headed to the bench soon afterwards, then went straight down the race for assessment before being officially substituted out of the game and replaced by Will Hoskin-Elliott.

"He's done an MCL and will miss the rest of the game unfortunately," Collingwood football boss Graham Wright said in a statement posted to the Magpies' Twitter account. 

"His 300th game so we were disappointed, but we'll get the job done without him."

Sidebottom was later shown on the bench with ice on his knee.

The 32-year-old is just the fourth Collingwood player to reach the 300-game mark.

Rejuvenated under Craig McRae last year, he had averaged 22.7 disposals on the wing this season before the Kangaroos game and had racked up four quick disposals before his injury.
