The dreadlocked small forward showed why the Bombers took him in the first round of last year's national draft, kicking four goals on Tuesday night as they won the pre-season match by 21 points.
It confirmed he will make his official AFL debut on Saturday week when Essendon start their season against Gold Coast.
Kako put it best himself post-match - there had been talk about whether his pressure on the opposition was good enough. It certainly was at GMHBA Stadium.
He was a fire starter in the Essendon attack, harassing the Geelong defenders and working as hard when he had to defend as when Kako could sniff a scoring opportunity.
"It's obviously really exciting. The good thing is, he's a hard worker and that's coming out on the field," said Essendon assistant coach Daniel Giansiracusa.
"We're not trying to put too much pressure on him. As a small forward, you can have days when you get on the end of the footy, I know that, but there are also days when it doesn't quite work for you.
"We just encourage him to bring that pressure - and he definitely brings that.
"He's electrifying with his pressure and we want to be known for that as a footy team."
Kako also impressed Geelong assistant coach Steven King.
"Essendon have a beauty there - he's a little excitement machine," King said.
Fellow first-round draft picks Nate Caddy and Elijah Tsatas also shone for Essendon - Caddy kicking three goals and Tsatas having 10 clearances in the midfield.
Another highly rated youngster, Zach Reid, has only managed nine games in four years because of injury.
But the key defender showed some encouraging signs against Geelong and the Bombers have their fingers crossed for him.
"We're all just hoping he gets a run at it - not because of the talent he is, but he's just a ripping kid," Giansiracusa said.
Another player to impress in defence was veteran Dylan Shiel, who has moved from the midfield to half-back and racked up 26 possessions.
As Giansiracusa noted: "sometimes you need a bit of spark somewhere else and he looks like he has that."
Perth school teacher Tom Edwards, recruited in the last few days as a supplemental selection period (SSP) pick, has made an immediate impression and could play against the Suns.
"It's a great story ... he hasn't put a foot wrong," Giansiracusa said.
