The Suns improved to 3-0 with their 13.13 (91) 14.6 (90) home win over the Crows on Saturday.
It's only the second time the Suns have won their first three games since entering the league in 2011.
Chasing their first finals campaign, Damien Hardwick's men are now able to hit new heights if they beat North Melbourne on Saturday in Barossa as part of Gather Round.
"We know where we're at; we have some work to do but we're building to something that could be pretty cool," Hardwick said.
They had a slice of luck, former Sun Izak Rankine not paid what looked to be a clear mark with less than two minutes to play.
Hardwick brushed that aside but conceded their handling of Adelaide's key forwards Riley Thilthorpe (five goals) and Taylor Walker (four) was off the mark.
They also lost the clearances 46-35, an area that has historically decided their contests - and were unable to convert their early inside-50 dominance or ice the contest after twice building three-goal buffers.
Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson were also relatively quiet, with recruits Daniel Rioli and John Noble instead having influence and Jed Morgan snagging three goals.
"We didn't play particularly well today," Hardwick said.
"We weren't very calm and composed at various stages.
"These rushed snaps and all that sort of stuff ... that just doesn't cut it in the AFL.
"And normally the motto's been if you win the clearance you beat the Suns … but we found another way to win."
The coach said his team would take valuable lessons from their inability to snuff out the Crows' comebacks.
"Sometimes there's only one side trying to win and then there's the side trying not to lose," he said in reference to taking conservative, late options.
"That's a lesson for us but I won't lie, 12 months ago we probably lose that game."
