Curnow had a procedure on Tuesday to remove a screw from a previous surgery, with the Blues saying it had caused him some discomfort.
They open their season on March 13 with the Thursday night blockbuster against Richmond at the MCG, followed by Hawthorn in round two.
"The club has been able to move quickly to have it corrected to ensure there will be no ongoing impact for Curnow once the season begins," the Blues said on their website.
"Due to the minor nature of the surgery, Curnow will be able to recommence running within the week, full training in the coming weeks and be available to play in either rounds one or two."
Meanwhile, the bad news continues for Geelong onballer Cam Guthrie, who has had surgery on his left Achilles.
"The aim for Cameron is to be back on the track in the next fortnight and integrated into football drills within the month. A return to play timeline will be finalised in the early stages of the season," said Cats football boss Andrew Mackie.
Guthrie shared Geelong's best and fairest award in 2022, their most recent premiership. But he has managed only 10 games over the last two seasons because of injuries.
