The three-week initiative aims to boost the local economy by encouraging shoppers to support participating businesses in the area.
To enter, customers simply need to make a purchase at one of the 25 participating stores, fill out a coupon, and drop it in the designated box at the counter.
Weekly prize draws will be held, with winners receiving $250, $500 or $1000 in Shop Local gift cards redeemable at any participating store.
S&J Furniture owner Karl Bauer emphasised the importance of shopping locally.
“Ninety-five per cent of our customers are local,” he said.
“Everybody needs to do their part to keep the local economy ticking over and provide employment for all the locals.”
Highlighting the positive impact of local spending, Mr Bauer said a large part of every dollar spent in town stays in the local community.
He also stressed the importance of supporting small businesses and local branches of national chains employing local residents.
“The more support local businesses get from local purchases, the more local job opportunities there are, and the more opportunities we have to support our local sports clubs and charities,” Mr Bauer said.
