"It probably adds extra stuff for you guys, but not necessarily for me," said Osaka after fighting back from a slow start to edge No.20 seed Karolina Muchova 1-6 6-1 6-3 in the second round on Wednesday.
"We are labelled 'mums', of course.
"But I think when you go on the tennis court, you just think of yourself as a tennis player, first of all."
A week before the Open began, Osaka announced she and longtime boyfriend, rapper Cordae, had parted ways.
"Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship," she posted on Instagram.
"No bad blood at all, he's a great person and an awesome dad."
Osaka and Bencic - both aged 27 - have yet to cross paths this year at Melbourne Park.
In part that may be because Bencic, the Tokyo Olympics gold medallist, has a different schedule away from the court now.

"We're just doing more fun stuff and trying to go out for a walk or trying to go to the aquarium," she said.
"I don't think I would be going to the aquarium before.
"In terms of family time, it's definitely changed.
"I do different things now in terms of preparation, but it's better, because it takes my mind off tennis a little bit."
Bencic advanced to the Osaka showdown in the round of 32 with a 6-1 7-6 (7-3) win over Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens.
