Mabil, 29, was a regular for much of Graham Arnold's tenure as coach but has yet to earn a call-up under Tony Popovic.
Upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Indonesia and China may come too soon for Mabil, who recently signed for Spanish Segunda Division club CD Castellon.
But the winger is adamant he can suit Popovic's style.
"For me, it's about enjoying my football and working hard for my club and then when the boss for the national team calls me and thinks I can help, I am there," Mabil said.
"Obviously Tony has done a great job since he's taken over. I've been following the boys a lot ... and supporting them from afar, and they've done good.
"Obviously, the style of play has changed. They play now with the wing-backs and with (two) No.10s.
"So it's perfect for me because that's how we play here at our club. So, I think it would really help me. It would be easier for me to adapt.
"I think I can always help the Socceroos. I think I've done okay in the past. And I think there's more to offer.
"And when the time comes, I think the coach will know what he wants me to do for the team and that's what I'll do to the best of my abilities."
Mabil is relishing his second shot at Spanish football.
He joined then-La Liga club Cadiz in 2022 but made just six appearances.
"I did feel like I have unfinished business," he said.
"Obviously, I didn't get my chance in Cadiz ... and it really cost me a lot at the World Cup, not getting a lot of game time in Cadiz before the World Cup.
"But the coach (Arnold) had the trust in me to bring me to the World Cup, even though I didn't play.
"So, yes, I do feel there's something I want to achieve here in Spain."
Fringe Socceroos midfielder Denis Genreau, 25, just moved to Deportivo La Coruna after a long stint in Toulouse, and wants game time to press his case for a first call-up under Popovic.
"I've got a lot of hunger to represent my country again," he said.
But first, both Mabil and Genreau are focused on facing each other at Nou Estadi Castàlia next Tuesday morning (AEDT) - and they won't hold back.
"The last time we saw each other, we were rooming together with the national team," Genreau said.
"It's always so cool when you see a fellow Australian on the other side of the world."
Mabil added: "It's going to be fun to see my mate again.
"Maybe for 90 minutes, we're not going to be friends for a bit.
"It's going to be a great game for both of us and both of our teams - and may the best win."
