Now the Melbourne City teenager can dare to dream of joining the gun defensive duo in the Matildas.
Apostolakis, a Young Matilda, moved from Western Sydney ahead of the current A-League Women season to elevate her game.
One of the competition's finest young defenders, Apostolakis is among the potential bolters for Tom Sermanni's squad for next month's SheBelieves Cup.

If the call-up doesn't come then, it's not far off.
"That's been a big thing on my mind recently, but I try not to think about it as much," Apostolakis told AAP.
"Like, I know that if I just work on myself, and I prepare myself in the best way, that will come eventually.
"It's not something that I want to put pressure on myself for.
"If I continue to work hard and continue to play and improve, like I have done early this season and coming to now, it might be on my radar.
"But I don't know, I'll leave it up to Tom to make that decision."

The teenager, who can play as both a central defender and a fullback, has plenty of role models to look to for inspiration.
"Ellie Carpenter has been one of my idols forever," Apostolakis said.
"Even when I was so young and just watching (the Matildas) play, I remember watching them in Sydney play against Brazil, and she's just always someone that I've idolised.
"But even when I was playing alongside Clare Hunt at Wanderers, she was a big idol for me.
"Her leadership, her dedication to improving herself is something that I love to watch."
Apostolakis is also eligible to play for the Philippines through her mother's side of the family - and has been scoped out for her interest.
"It has come up previously, when 'Staj' (Alen Stajcic) was actually the coach there, but no, it's always been my goal to play for Australia," she said.
"Because I was born here and I grew up here, so it's something I'm very connected with.
"I would love to connect to my roots somehow, but definitely think football-wise, it's definitely Australia for me."

Still just 18, Apostolakis completed her HSC exams while with her City teammates in Thailand for the Women's Asian Champions League group stage.
Now she's able to focus full-time on football.
Apostolakis will play a crucial role in attempting to shut down Melbourne Victory's attack in Saturday's table-topping derby clash at Casey Fields.
"This is a massive game, especially with us being at the top of the table, and it's a Melbourne derby," she said.
"So the stakes couldn't be any higher, really.
"But yeah, super excited for it."
