The 25-year-old was on the Titans' books until the end of 2024 and has agreed to terms on a two-year extension.
Sami will sign the paperwork on his new deal on Thursday.
Former United States assistant coach Lee Addison, Sami's mentor at Queensland's Ipswich State High School, said the new deal was a deserved reward for a quality footballer.
Sami has played 104 games for the Titans and scored 50 tries.
"When I watched Phil debut in NRL I made a comment on my social media that he looked like he'd played 100 games, and now he has played 100," Addison told AAP.
"He was always destined to play at this level. He always looks so comfortable. Phil's best games are brilliant and his worst games are never catastrophic.
"I don't think it is any coincidence that the best coach of our time, Wayne Bennett, was the one who picked him for Queensland in State of Origin back in 2020.
"I dare say that if Val Holmes hadn't returned to rugby league, and Selwyn Cobbo hadn't come on the scene, that (Sami) would have played more than his two Origin games."
Addison said Sami had improved his defensive clout and professionalism in recent years
"When he was at school he wasn't the best trainer and just did what he had to do but he has become a family man and is taking his football more seriously because he is providing for his family," Addison said.
"He now owns key moments and scores tries when the game is on the line."
Addison is adamant a turning point in Sami's career came in 2014, when four kangaroos ran onto the field in a schoolboy game and chased him.
"Phil had played within himself up until then but he absolutely flew to get away from those kangaroos and jumped a fence at lightning speed," Addison grinned.
"I'd never seen him run that quick and I told him that was the standard. He was always speedy after that."
Addison, who coached in the lower grades at Penrith and Manly, said Sami was the style of player Hasler traditionally favoured.
"Des will like his strength bringing the ball back anywhere in the back five.
"Phil can play centre, wing and he is also a very good fullback which is where he played for me in his first year at school."
Off-contract centre Brian Kelly is also on the cusp of being re-signed by the Titans.
"Hopefully I'll sort something out," Kelly told media on Tuesday.
