Jojo Fifita commits to NRL's Titans

But the Titans have locked him down for at least three seasons, with Fifita viewed as an exciting work in progress at a club desperate for a spark after a 2022 season that began with promise but ended in a dreadful 6-18.

"Jojo is a real talent and a player that we're excited to have here at the Titans long term," Holbrook said.

"After growing up predominantly playing union, 2022 was just his second year of full-time rugby league and you can see how quickly he has adapted to our game.

"He's a strike outside back but he is also a great defender and as he continues to develop we're confident that you'll see his game improve even further."

Fifita is the second-cousin of Titans backrower David Fifita, who is all but certain to hit the November 1 contract deadline without signing an extension.

That would leave the Tonga international, who moved to the Gold Coast on a deal worth a staggering $1.2 million a season, open to bids from rival clubs for his services from 2024.
