Caslick will make her much-hyped debut for the Queensland Reds off the bench in Sunday's Super Rugby Women's showdown with Codey's NSW Waratahs in Brisbane.
The three-time world sevens player of the year's inclusion follows Reds debuts for fellow Paris Olympians Kahli Henwood, Teagan Levi and incumbent Australian sevens captain Bella Nasser last week.
But while wishing those making the transition from sevens to the 15-a-side format the best in their quest to make this year's global showpiece in England, ex-Reds star Codey says Australia's Test aces won't be giving up their Wallaroos spots without a fight.
"It will be a challenge for the sevens girls this weekend, but I think it's a really good opportunity to showcase some great women's rugby," said the ex-Wallaroos lock.Â
"It's really positive that (Caslick) has openly said that her focus is now on the 15s and that she's going to do everything she can to get the Wallaroos call-up.
"But at the same time I think with the sevens girls, there's a lot of chat and that's just what it is - chat right now. We need to put some words into action and showcase their skills.
Wallaroos coach Jo Yapp has already predicted that, for all their class and potential, only a sprinkling of sevens players will make the World Cup squad.
"It's a massive challenge," Codey said.
"It doesn't necessarily translate. Just because you're a great athlete in the sevens program, doesn't mean you're going to be a great athlete in the 15s program.
"So it's really positive for those girls to come across, commit and take on a challenge but it's every man for himself.
"Competition is tight for spots but everyone's working for their own position so it's exciting. It's healthy competition."
After starting her professional career at the Reds before joining the Waratahs last year, Codey can't wait to go head to head with her former side at Ballymore.
"I'm really excited to go home and face the old club. It's just that intense rivalry, a lot of passion around the game so we're all really excited," the 28-year-old said.
"I haven't been in the Reds locker room for quite some time now so I can't say what they're feeling, but I know definitely they'll front up."
