But such has been the success of his off-season surgery to flatten out his high arch, Rodda has been handed a starting berth for the home clash with the Hurricanes at HBF Park.
Rodda was included in the side to replace new captain Jeremy Williams, who was ruled out due to concussion.
Last season's skipper Michael Wells and new recruit Nic White will take over the captaincy duties this week.
