"It's poor, poor bowling," an exasperated Botham said on commentary for the Seven Network.
Botham's remarks came after another England wicket was overturned because of a no-ball.
Paceman Ollie Robinson and his touring teammates rejoiced as Marnus Labuschagne edged to the wicketkeeper on day two of the second Test in Adelaide.
But replays showed Robinson had overstepped the crease by millimetres, with no part of his front bowling foot behind the line.
"You do not have to push the line like this, it's ridiculous," Botham said.
"You should be half and half at most.
"The problem is, these guys go and bowl in the nets and they bowl from 16 -17 yards and when it comes out here (on a 22-yard pitch) they get it wrong."
Robinson's blunder followed Ben Stokes taking a wicket with a no-ball in England's nine-wicket loss to Australia in the first Test.
Stokes bowled David Warner when he was 17 - after the no-ball reprieve, he continued batting until dismissed for 94.
In Adelaide, Robinson's no-ball had minimum cost: Labuschagne added just one more run before the Pom paceman trapped him lbw for 103.
But in the previous over, Robinson dropped a hot catching chance at square leg when Labuschagne hooked powerfully.
It was the third time Labuschagne was dropped in his innings and the seventh catching opportunity turfed by the tourists in the series so far.
