The 56-year-old singer's eldest daughter, 16-year-old Sunday Rose, walked for Miu Miu during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month and while the Somebody Like You hitmaker - who also has 13-year-old Faith with wife Nicole Kidman - is "very proud" of her, he admitted he is protective of her navigating life in the public eye.
He told People magazine: "Hopefully we can just help her keep balance with everything through all of that.
"Hopefully she'll benefit by having two parents that know about a certain amount of celebrity."
Urban noted it can be a "different challenge" for parents when their children are known from a young age, but he believes "balance" is essential.
He added: "It's all a challenge. I mean, raising kids is a challenge, period. It's about trying to keep a balance.
"It's all a process, but I think balance is key. Keeping her firmly with schoolwork and structure and everything balanced in its place is key."
As well as being a watchful father, Urban is also a supportive husband and admitted last month he'd watched his wife's latest project, six-part Netflix series The Perfect Couple in one sitting.
He told People magazine: "I saw the whole thing before it came out – binged it.
"It's been amazing. I've had so many people stop me and say how much they love it."
But the Blue Ain't Your Color singer didn't want to give any plot details or spoilers away about the murder mystery, which also stars Liev Schreiber and Dakota Fanning.
He added: "I'm the best secret keeper you'll ever meet. I'll go to my grave with secrets."
