The festival is about getting the more than one million Victorians aged 60 and over out and about, with more than 2000 activities around the state.
The theme this year is ‘Takin’ it Easy’ and focuses on presenting accessible and comfortable spaces, both live and online, to ensure seniors feel relaxed to participate and ease back into events.
More than 25 activities and events will be held in Greater Shepparton for local seniors, and the statewide event is being billed as a way for the community to give back and provide social opportunities to those who have given a lifetime of valuable contribution to society.
Shepparton organisers are hoping that events will get participants up and moving, tap into their creative flair and allow them to meet a host of like-minded people and enjoy the fresh spring air.
Greater Shepparton seniors can engage in a River Heritage Walk and Talk, enjoy tea and scones in the park or see a performance by country music icon Tania Kernaghan.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the Victorian Seniors Festival would be an opportunity for the community to come together and help people connect after the past two years of COVID-19.
“The festival not only provides great entertainment, but also encourages our Greater Shepparton seniors to live healthy and active lifestyles, and to get involved and engaged in our community,” Cr Sali said.
