Families flocked to the Lockington Channel for an annual Australia Day tradition —the kids’ fishing competition.
Participants came from down the road and further afield, including from Echuca, to join in the action.
The event was organised by the Lockington Action Club, with many children hoping to get a bite.
The fishing competition followed the morning’s Australia Day breakfast and ceremony.
About 100 people gathered at the Lockington Lions and Apex Park from 8am.
Guests enjoyed breakfast together, watched the Echuca Aero Club flyover and listened to a speech from Campaspe Shire councillor Rob Amos.
A flag-raising ceremony was also held, with Ballendella’s Stuart Murray the guest speaker.
Lockington Lions Club hosted the event, catering the barbecue breakfast.
