Wild weather smothers soggy Shepparton

Shepparton residents were treated to a wild and chilly weekend, with 6.2mm of rain falling in just an hour on Saturday.

It followed 2mm falling in just eight minutes on Friday, with 8mm total falling for the day.

Saturday’s total was recorded as 9.6mm, while 3.4mm fell in just 10 minutes on Sunday afternoon from 3.20 to 3.30pm, for a total of 8.4mm from 9am to 4pm on Sunday.

Wind gusts reached 65km/h at 5.30pm on Friday, knocking down branches and power poles, before calming a little to 39km/h on Saturday.

The falls add flows to the already swollen rivers and creeks, with the Goulburn River close to breaking its banks and flood warnings in place for the Seven and Castle creeks.
