Shepparton fell to its second loss of the Goulburn Valley League season, but will battle hard to return to the winner’s list as quickly as possible.

The Bears had just one less scoring shot and plenty of the football in a 31-point defeat at the hands of Seymour on Saturday, but coach Sean Harrap cited a clear difference in disposal efficiency between the two outfits as a major factor in the result.
‘‘Full credit to them, they used the ball a lot better than we did for sure and I think that was probably our biggest thing, our execution just failed us again and they were able to counterattack that and score pretty frequently when we turned it over,’’ Harrap said.
‘‘We’ve just got so much to work on, but there’s some upsides I suppose in that we know where we’ve got to get to.
‘‘I reckon we had more inside 50s and it just shows we had enough of the footy, but we just weren’t able to penetrate on the scoreboard, which is disappointing.
‘‘It’s just back to basics I suppose, we know we’ve got some really good players in our group — it’s just building that cohesion and that want I suppose, there was effort there at times, but probably not for the majority.
‘‘Footy’s a brutal game and it’s not given to you on a platter, so we’ll get to training and work hard.
‘‘(Our best players were) few and far between, which is pretty disappointing, but at the end of the day you learn from your mistakes and improve and be better next week.’’
Mitch Brett, Jonty Wardle, David Stretton and Harry Boyd were among the better contributors for Shepparton, while Matt Ryan hurt his ankle late in the contest, but is unlikely to miss next week’s clash against Benalla.
