The chaplaincy dinner, to be held at the Kyabram Bocce Club from 6.30pm, is an annual event to thank those who support chaplaincy — and its major fundraiser.
While Mr McArdle will be a major drawcard, the event continues a strong tradition of community involvement in the program, which is run by Korus Connect.
Mr McArdle was the original bass played for Little River Band, the ARIA Hall of Fame rock band that was formed in 1975.
Chaplaincy Support Group chair Pastor David Lloyd said chaplaincy had a rich tradition in Kyabram.
“We are looking forward to celebrating our 21 years in style, and having George sing and play will be fantastic,” Mr Lloyd said.
“I love the way the local community have supported chaplaincy over the years, and our dinner is an opportunity to thank them. Chaplaincy provides a unique dimension to the welfare program of schools, and in our post-COVID era the need for the chaplain is even greater.”
The dinner is the major fundraiser for the year where supporters have the opportunity to help fund chaplaincy work at the college.
There is no cost for the night, which includes a lovely meal; however, many people use the dinner to offer their financial support.
Twenty-one years ago, a committee formed to place a chaplain in the then Kyabram High School. The current chaplain, Liz Spicer, has been chaplain for most of that time.
