Tatura's Tom Sullivan is threatening to run away with The News Award this campaign.

The Bulldogs’ veteran continues to impress week-in, week-out in the Goulburn Valley League, notching another five votes in the pair of matches since the award's last update.

It takes the star utility - who can fill any role on the ground - to 18 votes after nine rounds of action.

Sullivan is six clear of a logjam on the table, with the chasing pack behind him made up of four players on 12 votes.

Tatura teammate Nick Fothergill, Echuca's Kane Morris, Shepparton Swans’ BJ Squire and surprise packet Bryce Stephenson of Shepparton remain within striking distance of Sullivan with seven matches remaining for each of their outfits.

The next batch of chasers in the award sit on 10 votes, consisting of Benalla duo Chris Welsh and Callum Crisp, Shepparton United's Mitch Cleeland, Mooroopna's Matt Gorman and Kyabram's Zac Keogh.

Seymour and Mansfield - which have played one less game than the rest of the GVL - are led by Jack O'Sullivan and Dylan Scopel (eight votes) and Brett Mahoney (seven) respectively.

Logan Austin (Rochester) and Andrew Smith (Euroa) sit on nine votes and atop the club count for the Tigers and Magpies.

In all, 160 players have secured at least one vote across the nine rounds of action for the 12 clubs of the competition.
