Nathalia has sent shock waves through the Murray Football League after an incredible one-point win over league leaders Cobram over the weekend — a result that proves they are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in 2022.
The Purples handed the Tigers their first loss of the season with a stunning 10.8 (68) to 10.7 (67) triumph on Saturday.
Nathalia was down by 22 points at quarter-time, but booted six goals in the second term while holding Cobram scoreless to be up at the main break.
The Tigers mounted a comeback in the second half kicking five goals to Nathalia’s two, but it wasn’t enough to stop their 12-game winning streak from coming to an end as the Purples clung on for a memorable victory.
Five-time reigning premiers, the Purples’ reign as the top side in the Murray League looked finished after a dismal 1-7 start to the season.
But an incredible mid-season turnaround has seen Nathalia win six in a row to surge up the ladder to be on the brink of finals, with bucket loads of momentum behind them.
The Purples sit in seventh spot on the ladder, one win behind Congupna in sixth with five rounds left to play.
