The Tigers were like a bat out of hell at Deakin Reserve in round one of the Haisman Shield, oozing class on the way to a seven-wicket rolling of Old Students to kick-start their campaign in style.
From the get-go, Central Park’s performance was as clinical as they come.

The hosts had the new pill hooping as Ramadan Yze began proceedings with the scalp of Luke McPhillamy for nine, and when Xavier Lewis walked without breaching double digits the Students were in trouble.
Cue Felix Odell and Connor Hangan, who both entered the 30s to provide some stability in the middle overs.

Callan McCabe and Rehan Bari also chalked up starts for the travellers, but with Central Park’s bowlers placing a clamp on the run rate, Students never fired on all cylinders on the way to 7/167 from its allotted overs.

However, if the Tigers were tight with ball in hand, they were just as, if not more, ruthless on the batting front.
Bar a duck from new man Andrew Boyington, Deakin Reserve’s tenants gave the boundary ropes a fair working over as they made a mockery of the Students’ attempts to stop the heavy flow of runs.
Darting through: Felix Odell sprints between the wickets.

Brendan Scott (33) and Tim Kelly (34) applied brute force to smack 11 fours between them, while Connor Holland and Rhiley Lau saw out the innings with knocks of 32 and 52 respectively.
