But Thunder co-coach Jack Threlfall is hopeful that can change on Saturday when his side heads to Nagambie in the first week of the split round.
“Somebody was telling me the other night at training that we haven’t beaten them since joining the league,” the playing coach said.
“Hopefully we can turn that around and get a win for the club.”
Dookie United enters the clash off the back of two tough losses.
The Thunder just missed out by eight points on the road against Murchison-Toolamba in a game that could have gone either way, which was followed by a four-goal loss at home to Stanhope.
Josh Kezerle was one of Dookie’s best in both outings, along with defender Andrew O’Connor.
“It’s been pretty disappointing because there were two games that were up for grabs,” Threlfall said.
“We know our best can match it with the best which gives us confidence but we need to make sure we’re not having lapses, which is an area we need to improve on.”
Threlfall revealed the Thunder would make three forced changes for this week’s clash.
The Lakers go into the round six clash off a win against Rushworth.
Nagambie playing coach Tyrone Muir told the Seymour Telegraph during the week that it was a major relief to finally have a win on the board.
“We are very happy (to be back on the winners’ list) and it is a major relief to have finally got there,” Muir said.
“After a tough start to the year with player availability and coming up against some tough opposition, it is just great to get that winning feeling back around the club.”
He said the effort around the contest and a change in mindset were pivotal in bringing about the improved result, with the focus during the week simply being getting back to basics.
“Our work-rate was a lot higher for a longer period of time, which was very pleasing,” he said.
“That enabled us to get a lot more scoring opportunities compared to the last few weeks, and our pressure was very high which forced them into mistakes.”
Around the grounds, Murchison-Toolamba is at home to Undera, while Stanhope takes on a Violet Town outfit brimming with confidence.
Lastly, Shepparton East is at home to Tallygaroopna in the Sunday fixture.
