The Road has endured a difficult start to its MFL campaign after an energised round one triumph over Numurkah.
A lethal Cobram outfit secured a 17.10 (112) to 11.10 (76) victory at Congupna in round two; the Roaders unfortunate to lose after leading at the last change.
Coach Kevin O’Donoghue said he was well aware of the challenge Tongala presented this weekend.
“It’s going to be a very difficult one for us, but a real good challenge early in the season,” he said.
“We know they’ve got plenty of experience, it’ll be a big test.”
Boasting a bevy of ex-AFL talent, Tongala has started its 2022 season as many had expected it to.
A mammoth 140-point win over Echuca United in round one stamped its authority from the get-go; the Blues going on to record strong wins in their following match-ups with Barooga and Nathalia.
O’Donoghue said more consistency from his players across the game’s entirety would see them challenge the Blues come Saturday.
“We’ve been in the contest, it’s just about sustaining that for four quarters,” he said.
In other Anzac round action, Barooga welcomes Mulwala — the Hawks intent on bouncing back from a 32.13 (205) to 4.3 (27) demolition at the hands of Cobram last weekend.
Deniliquin Rams head to Rumbalara fresh off a 36-point win over Finley.
The Cats will be up against it in round four, welcoming a red-hot Moama to Finley Recreation Reserve.
Meanwhile, Nathalia will be searching for its first win of the season against Numurkah on Sunday, while Echuca United will have its work cut out for it at home to Cobram.
