The foundation is looking to replace the positions by appointing one or more volunteer directors for a term of three years.
Greater Shepparton Foundation chief executive Cheryl Hammer said the organisation’s objective is to have a “skills-based board”.
“The skill set we are seeking is specific to enable the foundation to meet the most urgent needs in our community,” she said.
The board is looking for members with experience in the education or early learning sector, leadership or relations to multicultural or Indigenous communities, experience in business, legal work or accounting, board service in the not-for-profit sector or lived experience of disadvantage.
With the region having some of the highest rates of housing stress and homelessness in Victoria, the foundation was formed in response to tackling disadvantage and giving residents further opportunities.
As a result, focus areas include social inclusion, housing, parenting and early childhood development and employment and economic engagement.
The board works with the chief executive to address community needs through major community projects, a grants program, evaluation and advocacy and partnership development.
“It is important that our board is representative of our diverse community,” Greater Shepparton Foundation chair Rhys Holleran said.
“We remain committed to our view that if we are led by community, we can deliver with community so I encourage anyone who is interested, and has the skills we are seeking, to reach out, to learn more or to apply through this expression of interest process.”
