A severely weakened Australia have named Matt Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk to open the batting with Cooper Connolly at No.3. Marnus Labuschagne has been named at No.5 behind acting captain Steve Smith.
Alex Carey is the wicket-keeper as Josh Inglis continues to rest from back spasms which hindered him during the second Test.
A second string pace attack of Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson are covering for captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. Starc flew home after the recent second Test for personal reasons.
Cummins (ankle and paternity leave), Hazlewood (calf injury) and Starc will also miss the rapidly approaching Champions Trophy along with Mitchell Marsh (back) and the now retired Marcus Stoinis.
